Bolsover Castle, perched high on a ridge above the Vale of Scarsdale, on the eastern edge of the Peak District, is a fabulous place to visit, with loads to occupy the whole family.  The Castle dates from the 11th Century and is still an impressive tower, rising sheer from its cliff and offering wonderful views over the surrounding landscape.  Visitors can also explore the dramatic, atmospheric ruin of the Terrace Range and the magnificent Riding House, the earliest such building in England to have survived intact, as well as the beautiful gardens.  There is a café, gift shop and children’s playground on site.  Bolsover Castle is owned and managed by English Heritage.
